What is the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)?

The Federal Poverty Level (FPL) is a way to measure income, considering things like the cost of living and how many people live in your household. This guideline is decided each year by the department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We use FPL to measure who qualifies for certain programs such as Fill the Gap Prescription Assistance Program and others to be sure resources are provided to those who need it. The below chart calculates 300% of the Federal Poverty Level related to household size.

How do we use Experian to determine eligibility?

Rx Outreach may use Experian to verify your income and confirm your eligibility based on any stated Federal Poverty Level (FPL) criteria. When you apply for a program, you are giving our team permission to process this simple check to confirm income levels. This check does not affect your credit score or report in any way. We handle this verification with care, making sure your privacy is protected.

Why do programs have income limitations and/or eligibility requirements?

Income limitations and eligibility requirements ensure that assistance programs target and serve those experiencing the greatest need. By setting this criteria, Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs) can successfully direct resources to individuals and families who fall below specific income guidelines, like the Federal Poverty Level.

What if I have insurance? What if my insurance doesn’t cover prescriptions?

Every Patient Assistance Program will have its own terms and conditions to read and determine if it's a good fit for you and your family. Currently, Rx Outreach's Patient Assistance Program, Fill the Gap, require participants to be uninsured to qualify. For this program, if you are insured and unable to access your medications, we may still be able to help! Contact our team to discuss your personal situation. Rx Outreach's Affordable Medication Program does not have eligibility requirements.

Which medications are covered by Patient Assistance Programs (PAP)?

Each PAP has different guidelines and covers different medications. For a full list of medications covered by the Fill the Gap program click below.

How long does it take to process my application?

Applications will be processed within two business days. You will hear from our team about the status of your applications and next steps.

How will I receive my medication?

After we receive a valid prescription, we will begin working on filling the prescription. Once processed, the medication will be delivered directly to your home and will arrive in 3-6 business days.

What happens if my application is denied?

If your application is denied, we'll explain why and give you information on how to appeal the decision within 10 days (about 1 and a half weeks).

Is there a limit to how long I can receive free medication?

Each PAP outlines when you should re-apply for the program. We recommend reviewing the terms for the program for which you are applying to verify the length of the program. For Fill the Gap Prescription Assistance Program, a team member will contact you when you need to start the application process again.

What are my responsibilities as a participant in the program?

Participants are asked to provide complete and correct information about their financial status, insurance coverage, and health condition during the application process and program duration. You may also need to update the program on any changes to your income, family size, or insurance status to continue receiving assistance. There may be other conditions required for the program that will be outlined in the program's application and terms and conditions.
