How Should I Take It?
Take Lurasidone (Latuda®) exactly as your provider tells you to take it; do not adjust the dose yourself. The medication should be taken by mouth with food (>350 calories) at the same time every day. Do not cut, split, or chew this medication. If you take too much Lurasidone (Latuda®), call your healthcare provider or poison control center at 1-800-222-1222 right away or go to the nearest emergency room.
What are the most common side effects?
Sleepiness/Drowsiness, restlessness or feeling like you consistently need to move around (akathisia); difficulty moving, slow movements/muscle stiffness, tremor; and nausea. This medication can also contribute to weight gain or problems sleeping (insomnia).
Important Safety Information
Increased risk of death in elderly people with dementia-related psychosis.
Antidepressant medications may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors within the first few months of treatment and when doses are changed. Report any change in behavior immediately to your healthcare provider.
